USING PARTICLE SWARM OPTIMIZATION TO ESTABLISH A LOCAL GEOMETRIC GEOID MODEL
There exist a number of methods for approximating the local geoid surface and studies carried out to determine a local geoid. In this study, performance of geoid by PSO method in modeling local geoid was presented and analyzed. The ellipsoidal heights (h), derived from GPS observations, and known orthometric heights from first-order bench marks were first used to create local geometric geoid model, then the PSO method was used to convert ellipsoidal heights into orthometric heights (H). The resulting values were used to compare between the spirit leveling and GPS methods. The adopted PSO method can improve the fitting of local geometric geoid by quadratic surface fitting method, which agrees with the known orthometric heights within ±1.02cmthe Cartography produced: General Map, Partial Maps, Profile, Cross Sections and others
Self-Efficacy and Depression in Boxers: A Mediation Model
Background: Depression has become one of the most common problems faced by athletes. In many mental health problems, its production and development mechanisms and influencing factors have received full attention from researchers, whereas boxers’ depression has received limited attention. This study explored the relationship between boxers’ self-efficacy and depression, as well as the effect of self-control as a mediating factor.
Methods: This study used the athlete self-efficacy scale (ASES), the self-control scale (SCS), and the Center for Epidemiologic Studies depression scale (CES-D). Using a large number of randomly selected samples, a total of N=231 boxers (age: M =20.28, SD = 2.60, ages around 18 to 32; the total number of years of exercise: M = 6.07 years, SD = 2.90, years around 1 to 15; 144 male) of Chinese national athletes participated the study.
Results: Self-efficacy and self-control were negatively correlated with depression; self-efficacy was positively correlated with self-control. In addition, self-control played a partial mediation role between self-efficacy and depression among boxers.
Conclusion: Above all, an important way to improve and prevent the depression of Chinese boxers maybe enhance their level of self-efficacy and self-control
The comparison of optical variability of broad-line Seyfert 1 and narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxies from the view of Pan-STARRS
By means of the data sets of the Panoramic Survey Telescope and Rapid
Response System (Pan-STARRS), we investigate the relationship between the
variability amplitude and luminosity at 5100 \AA, black hole mass, Eddington
ratio, ( the ratio of the flux of Fe II line within
4435-4685 \AA ~to the broad proportion of line) as well as (the ratio of the flux [O III] line to the total line)
of the broad line Seyfert 1 (BLS1) and narrow line Seyfert 1 (NLS1) galaxies
sample in g,r,i,z and y bands, respectively. We also analyze the similarities
and differences of the variability characteristics between the BLS1 galaxies
and NLS1 galaxies. The results are listed as follows. (1). The cumulative
probability distribution of the variability amplitude shows that NLS1 galaxies
are lower than that in BLS1 galaxies. (2). We analyze the dependence of the
variability amplitude with the luminosity at 5100 \AA, black hole mass,
Eddington ratio, and , respectively. We find
significantly negative correlations between the variability amplitude and
Eddington ratio, insignificant correlations with the luminosity at 5100 \AA.
The results also show significantly positive correlations with the black hole
mass and , significantly negative correlations with which are consistent with Rakshit and Stalin(2017) in low redshift bins
(z<0.4) and Ai et al.(2010). (3). The relationship between the variability
amplitude and the radio loudness is investigated for 155 BLS1 galaxies and 188
NLS1 galaxies. No significant correlations are found in our results.Comment: 10 pages, 5 figures, accepted by Astrophysics and Space Science, in

The Emergence of the Neo-Extended Family in Contemporary Taiwan.
[[abstract]]ABSTRACTIn response to industrialization and urbanization, changes in the form and function of family seem inevitable. In the study of family decline, a new typology of family is advanced that is based on kin relationships beyond co-residence boundaries. Four subtypes of family a n distinguished according to contact frequency and spatial proximity, namely, the neo-extended, dispersed, alienated, and detached sub-types of family. Analyzing data collected from the fourth m d of Taiwan Social Change Survey, we have identified the main determinants in the formation of a neo-extended family, which include respondents' socioeconomic status (education, wages, homeownership, religiousness), degree of adherence to traditional value, and whether or not family property has been divided. Moreover, we have found that most respondents belong to the neo-extended family, and exchanges between the respondents and their close relatives are relatively high. These findings point out that family function has been maintained despite of the progress of the nuclearization, due mainly to frequent contact and residential proximity between non-coresiding families
Is Taiwan’s Lowest-low Fertility Reversible Via Socio-economic Development?
[[abstract]]"In this study, we assume that socio-economic development is the
underlying mechanism for population changes. In the past 50 years, Taiwan
has experienced drastic socio-economic changes and rapid population
change. Simultaneous equations are thus used to integrate the effect of
Taiwan's socio-economic factors on the projection of its age-specific
fertility rate (ASFR). The estimated ASFR is then used to make population
projections for Taiwan in the period 2004-2033. The results of our low and
medium projections are close to the official (CEPD) medium-high
projection for the same time period. The results of the high projection for
both studies are rather similar too. Specifically, if Taiwan's socio-economic
development grows at a high variant, its fertility would rebound to
replacement level by 2033. If it follows the medium variant, fertility would
rise to 1.6 births per woman. But if Taiwan's future socio-economic
development grows sluggishly as in the assumed low variant case, Taiwan's
fertility would remain at a lowest-low level.
USING A LEAST SQUARES SUPPORT VECTOR MACHINE TO ESTIMATE A LOCAL GEOMETRIC GEOID MODEL
In this study, test-region global positioning system (GPS) control points exhibitingknown first-order orthometric heights were employed to obtain the points of planecoordinates and ellipsoidal heights by using the real-time GPS kinematicmeasurement method. Plane-fitting, second-order curve-surface fitting, back-propagation (BP) neural networks, and least-squares support vector machine (LS-SVM) calculation methods were employed. The study includes a discussion on dataintegrity and localization, changing reference-point quantities and distributions toobtain an optimal solution. Furthermore, the LS-SVM was combined with localgeoidal-undulation models that were established by researching and analyzing3kernel functions. The results indicated that the overall precision of the localgeometric geoidal-undulation values calculated using the radial basis function(RBF) and third-order polynomial kernel function was optimal and the root meansquare error (RMSE) was approximately ± 1.5 cm. These findings demonstrated thatthe LS-SVM provides a rapid and practical method for determining orthometricheights and should serve as a valuable academic reference regarding local geoidmodels
